Privacy Policy for Bill Buddy
Bill Buddy helps users manage shared expenses, balances, group invitations, and settlements. This policy explains how information is handled when you use the app.
Information you provide
When you create or use an account, Bill Buddy may process your name, email address, optional phone number, Firebase user identifier, and authentication information. Passwords are handled by Firebase Authentication and are not visible to the developer.
The app stores information that users enter, including group names, member names and phone numbers, expense descriptions and amounts, payers and participants, split amounts, balances, invitations, join requests, and settlement records.
Information stored on your device
Bill Buddy stores a local cache of account and expense information on your device to load the app faster and support reliable access. Signing out clears the signed-in account cache used by the app.
Advertising and automatically collected information
Bill Buddy uses Google AdMob to display ads. The Google Mobile Ads SDK may automatically collect and share IP address information (which may be used to estimate general location), app and ad interactions, diagnostic information, and device or account identifiers such as the Android advertising ID and app set ID. Google uses this information for advertising, analytics, and fraud prevention. Information transmitted by the SDK is encrypted in transit.
Where required, Bill Buddy uses Google's consent flow before requesting ads. You can also reset or delete your Android advertising ID through your device settings.
How information is used
- Provide authentication, cloud sync, groups, balances, invitations, and settlements.
- Keep the app secure, prevent abuse, diagnose problems, and improve reliability.
- Display and measure ads and prevent invalid advertising activity.
- Respond to support, privacy, and data-deletion requests.
Sharing and service providers
Bill Buddy does not sell personal information. Information may be processed by Google services used to operate the app, including Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, and Google AdMob. Group information is shared with other members of the same group as necessary to provide the features users request.
Retention and deletion
Information is kept while needed to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and protect the service. You can request deletion of your Bill Buddy account and associated cloud data at any time. Shared group records may be retained only where necessary to preserve other members' expense and settlement history, and will no longer be linked to your active account.
Security
Bill Buddy uses Firebase authentication, Firestore security rules, and encrypted network connections where supported. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
Children
Bill Buddy is not directed to children under 13. Users should not enter personal or financial information relating to children unless they are authorized to do so.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when the app, its service providers, or legal requirements change. The effective date above identifies the latest version.
